The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic plans to make unified, transparent and comprehensible legislation regulating consumer matters, in the form of a consumer code. As individual consumer protection provisions are contained in a large number of acts and other legal regulations, the new legislative framework should enhance consumer protection in the Slovak Republic and remove the currently unclear and unsystematic regulatory framework. In addition to the regulation of the general principles governing provision of services to consumers or consumer agreements, the new legislative framework should also regulate alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes, supervision, and sanctions against the infringement of consumer rights. The legislative intent to develop the new framework has now been submitted for the commenting procedure.
