On October 25, 2016, the parliament (National Council of the Slovak Republic) enacted a new act on dunning proceedings. The purpose of the act is to speed up and make more effective proceedings on petitions for the issuance of payment orders, which traditionally burden courts to a large extent. The new act introduces an electronic alternative to a standard payment order under the Civil Disputes Procedure Code. Under the new act, the District Court of Banska Bystrica will be responsible for the issuance of electronic payment orders. In line with the act, documents and decisions will be delivered to electronic mailboxes. The act will enter into force on February 1, 2017.
