The government of the Slovak Republic has approved a Proposal of Measures to Improve Operation of the Commercial Register. These are a number of measures to be implemented progressively and are intended to improve the current operation and effectiveness of the Commercial Register. They should also contribute to improving the business environment. The proposed measures should be implemented in two consecutive phases – in the first phase by December 31, 2018 and in the second phase by December 31, 2020.

The proposed measures include:

  • optimizing the system and number of registry courts;
  • ensuring the cleaning of data entered in the Commercial Register and effective correction of outdated data entered in the Commercial Register;
  • the deletion of registered persons who fail to comply with their statutory obligations in relation to the Commercial Register;
  • increasing the degree of electronization of registration of data entered in the Commercial Register;
  • complete electronization of the Collection of Deeds;
  • more efficient linking of the Commercial Register with reference registers (such as the Trade Register); and
  • the transfer of a significant part of the registration activity to notaries in the capacity of external registrars, thereby unburdening the registration courts.
